Francis Ferrone, age 98, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the home he shared with daughter Cynthia and son-in-law Tom in Saratoga Springs.
He was born on October 1, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Dominic Ferrone and Josephine Solimanto Ferrone. During World War II he served in The Army Air Corps as a gunner on a Douglas A-26 Invader bomber. Francis was extremely skilled in all things mechanical. He could build or fix anything.
He built two houses for his family, and when he & his wife Claudia purchased the Pine Brook Motel in Lake George he completely re-built that as well. He and Claudia ran the motel for 20 years, finally retiring in 1981.
Francis actually never stopped working. He was active into his nineties, shoveling snow, raking leaves and digging up stumps (pictures available).
His greatest joy was his extended family, spending time with those he loved. He appreciated good conversation and was generous with advice and help. He was well respected, compassionate and devoted to his family.
Francis is survived by his son Paul Ferrone (Janet Alcorn-Ferrone) and daughter Cynthia Eletto (Tom); grandchildren Jacob Eletto, Colin Eletto (Anthia Ryner), Audra Eletto (Nino Collaco), Kara Eletto, Louise Alcorn & Justin Alcorn; nine great-grandchildren and many friends & relatives who will miss him dearly.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Claudia Liberi Ferrone; six brothers, Augustino, Luke, Joseph, Phillip, Peter & Alfred, and sisters Florence & Lucy.
