Emma Breault Obituary

HARTFORD, NY - Emma L. Breault, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.  Emma was born on December 30, 1941 in Hebron, New York, the daughter of Bennett Barrett and Evelyn (Burch) Barrett.

Emma married Leonard A. Breault Jr. on April 6, 1958 and supported him during his 24 years of combined military service in the U.S. Air Force, Navy Sea Bees, Army, and raised their six children together.

While living in Karlsruhe, Germany, Emma served as a Worthy Matron for the Order of the Eastern Star Hope Chapter No. 6, Mother Advisor for the Order of the Rainbow Girls, and Executive Officer for the International Order of the Rainbow Girls Grand Assembly.  Emma was a big supporter of Masonic Fidelitas Lodge No. 830 and Shriners.  Emma was an active member of the Fort Ann American Legion, Auxiliary Post 703 (Treasurer), and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Emma moved to her residence on Country Road in Hartford, NY in 1985.  Residents on Country Road were faced with maintaining and plowing the road themselves and picking up their mail and newspapers out on Route 17.  School buses didn’t travel the road, which was a major concern for Emma given the approximate 30 children and 26 residents that lived on Country Road.  After six years of meetings, petitions and negotiations spearheaded by Emma to dedicate Country Road for highway purposes, the construction of Country Road in Hartford was finally completed.

A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Emma was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays.  Her warm, loving spirit was evident to all who knew her.

Emma is survived by her children Donna Breault (George Martin), Mark, and Michael (Lorraine) Breault of New York, Susan (Dennis) Hadrick of Virginia, Deborah (Mike) Barrachina and Margueritte Baker of New York; her sister Pearl Madison, eleven grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Vivian Norton (Fred), Mary Joseph; brothers-in-law, Dale Breault (Linda), Arthur Breault (Nancy), Malcomb Breault (Penny), Kenneth Breault; and many nephews and nieces.

Predeceased by her husband Leonard A. Breault Jr., parents, brothers, Glen Barrett, Harry Barrett and sister Louise Cox.

A funeral service will be held at 7 pm on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main St, Hudson Falls, NY 12839. Family and friends may call from 4 pm to 6:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
