Ed Sankovich, 87, quietly passed away on December 11, 2017 surrounded by his family. Born on August 13, 1930 in Smock, PA, he was the youngest son of Anthony and Frances (Tomac) Sankovich.
Ed, a veteran of the Korean War, proudly served his country for 22 years in the United States Air Force retiring with the rank of Master Sargent. He worked another 20 years for General Electric in Schenectady, NY as a security guard.
He met the love of his life, June Vilder, on Christmas Day 1954 and recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. Together, they raised four children, Stephanie Deas (Andrew) of Yorktown, VA, Janice Conners (Jimmy) of Wilton, NY, Edward J. Sankovich (Debbie) of Brandon, FL and Joseph Sankovich (Belinda) of Porter Corners, NY. Ed thoroughly enjoyed all his grandchildren and great- grandchildren; Michael Tabor (Libby) and their children Bailey and Morgan of Williamsburg, VA; Nicholas Tabor (Kelly) and their children Isla and Campbell of Indianapolis, IN; Elizabeth Trerise (Crim) and their children Colin and Madeline of Middle Grove, NY; Marcella Sankovich (Chris) of Tampa, FL; and Joseph Sankovich of Schenectady, NY. Ed was one of nine children and has many cherished nieces and nephews scattered across the United States.
Mass service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, December 18, 2017, at St. Clements Roman Catholic Church in Saratoga Springs, NY. Family and friends will be received from 10:00 am to 10:25 am prior to the service. Interment with military honors will be held at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Edward to, St. Clements Church Christmas Flower Fund.
