Dorothy C. Johansen

Dorothy C. Johansen, age 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Wesley Health Care Center surrounded by her family.

She was born on February 8, 1923 in Troy, NY, the daughter of the late William Roux and Ebba Gustave Roux.

Dorothy was a clerk for the NYS Taxation and Finance department for many years.  She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends.  In her spare time, she enjoyed writing, painting, crocheting and knitting.  Her most precious joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Dorothy is survived by her children, Robert G. Johansen and Candace A. Scott; grandchildren, Trevor Johansen, Renee Johansen-Cowles, Heather Scott-Bordeaux, Adam Scott, Amanda Scott, Rachel Bonesteel, Emily Leurica; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Warren A. Johansen Sr., and her son, Warren A. Johansen Jr.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the Wesley Community for their loving care of Dorothy and support to the family. Donations may be made in her honor to the Wesley Foundation, Saratoga Springs, NY.

A funeral service will be held at 6 pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte. 9 and/or Marion Ave.)  Family and friends may call from 4 pm to 5:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
