QUEENSBURY - Donald W. McLean Jr., age 83, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 11, 1934 in Edwardsville, IL the son of the late Donald W. McLean Sr. and Dorene Braundmeier.
Donald was a supervisor at Rondout Valley Central School District for many years. He served his country with pride in the US Air Force for over 22 years. Donald loved maple syrup production, painting, and his coin collection. He had a passion for wood working and making things for his family. But his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He had a caring heart and moved through life with a quick wit, generous laugh, and brilliant smile. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his wife Joan McLean who had a fun filled life of 60 years together; son, Mark McLean (Tammy DelGiudice); daughters, Cindy Thompson (Mike), Dawn McLean (Sharon Flake); brother, Michael McLean (Charlotte); sisters, Mary Patricia Hetzel, Kathleen Kelahan (Thomas), Alice Rezabek (Richard); grandchildren, Erin Shuley (Chris), Kara Hawkins (Brandon), Farren Thompson, Bradley McLean, Bryan Mclean (Julia); great-grandchildren, Grace, Andrew, Luke Shuley and Finley & Sawyer Hawkins.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Keith McLean.
A mass will be held at 9 am on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Our Lady of Annunciation, 448 Aviation Road, Queensbury, NY. Calling hours will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte. 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, New York.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Porphyria Foundation.
