Charlene Jane Biggie

SPRINGFIELD, MA Charlene Jane (Rockwood) Biggie, age 72, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center of Springfield, MA

She was born on January 8, 1946 in Hinesburg, VT, the daughter of the late Lyle Rockwood and Margaret Irish Rockwood Atherton.

Charlene is preceded in death by her husband Richard Alfred Biggie, Jr.  Some of Charlene favorite memories are those of riding on the back of her husbands Honda Gold Wing motorcycle for long rides through the New York and Vermont countryside.  She was also an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers, accumulated on these many trips.

She leaves three daughters: Maryellen Abbatiello and husband Robert of Ashfield, MA, Laura Westcott of Springfield, MA, Cherylann Drake and James Dufrane of Springfield, MA. Two sons, Richard Biggie III and wife Stacy of Winchester, VA, Ernest Biggie and Jody Lamelin of Stafford Springs, CT. Charlene also leaves 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Charlene is survived by her sister Elaine Norton of Galway, NY and brother Norman Atherton of NH.

She is preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Her dear brother Wilbur Rockwood, Sr. passed on Thursday November 22, 2018.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave (Rte 9 and /or Marion Ave) Saratoga Springs, NY. Family and friends can call from 10:00 - 11:30 prior to the service at the funeral home. There will be a short graveside service at Maplewood Cemetery.

Family and friends are welcome to join the family for further fellowship at Knights of Columbus, 50 Pine Road, Saratoga Springs.
