Charlotte “Sugie” Collins, age 76, peacefully departed on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Saratoga Hospital, after a short illness.
Born on August 27, 1947, in Saratoga Springs, NY, Charlotte was the cherished daughter of the late Wallace G. Gailor and Catherine A. Hogan Gailor.
Charlotte was a proud graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, class of 1965. She pursued her passion for beauty by attending Colonna Beauty School in Albany, where she honed her skills as a beautician.
Her professional journey took her to the beauty shop, where she worked with her friend Jean on Lincoln Ave at "The Beauty Shop". There, she found fulfillment in uplifting others and fostering their confidence. Later, she transitioned to Price Chopper, dedicating 35 years of her life in customer service. Initially, she immersed herself in the health and beauty aids department before becoming an integral part of the front-end team. Charlotte diligently worked the overnight shift at the same store until she decided to embrace a well-deserved retirement. Even in retirement, Charlotte remained active, despite facing personal challenges such as the loss of her son to cancer and her own battle with the disease. Her kindness and talent for engaging in conversation with her customers drew everyone she met towards her. She cherished social activities, including BINGO, card games, bus trips, and visits to the Casino, finding joy in every interaction.
Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of 58 years, Richard P. Collins; her daughter, Tammy Collins; two older sisters, Marge Grant and Fran Gailor; four granddaughters, 3 grandsons, two great-granddaughters; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends, all of whom will fondly remember her kind and generous spirit.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and recently her son, Richard "Bub" Collins, eight brothers, Wallace, James, Earl, John, Harvey, Daniel, Charlie, Fred and five sisters, Laura “Arlene”, Maude, Mary, Catherine “Cookie”, Helen.
