Robert J Young Sr.

June 2, 1930 ~ January 5, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

LAS VEGAS, NV - Robert J Young Sr., 86 of Hudson Falls passed away peacefully on January 5, 2017 in Las Vegas, NV. He was born on June 2, 1930 in Glens Falls, NY, the son of the late Julius and Ida Young of Hudson Falls, NY.

Bob worked for the former Sandy Hill Iron and Brass/Valmet Company for 36 years before retiring. After retiring he enjoyed tinkering in his garage of many projects, mowing his large lawn, watching westerns on TV, and spending time with his grandchildren. His favorite pastime was watching football every Saturday and Sunday. He knew all the players and their stats in college and the NFL.

Bob had played football for Hudson Falls and was recruited by Michigan State. He remained a loyal and dedicated fan of both Michigan State and the Cleveland Browns his entire life. He also played for the Greenjackets Football League and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2002.

Bob was an avid horseman since the age of 16 when he bought his first horse named “Skeet”. He trained the horse himself to perform tricks and he entertained people at rodeos and parades. He and his family were featured in an extensive article that highlighted his self-taught abilities to train horses in the magazine “Ebony” in 1953. He continued to train hundreds of horses throughout his life and passed on his amazing talent to his son Robert Jr.

He is survived by his 6 children Roberta “June”, Rhenita, Robyn, Robert Jr “Beefy”, Ronald, and Roxanne, his grandchildren, Angelica, Lemarr, Cherise, Heather, Cordelle, Lavasia, Shannon, Robert Thompson, Robert Jonathan and 16 great grandchildren.

Bob also leaves a sister Martha Jones of Hudson Falls.

Bob was predeceased by his loving wife Barbara Young in 1996.
