Welcome to the memorial page for

Mary Ellen Thomas

January 1, 1945 ~ March 10, 2017 (age 72) 72 Years Old

Mary Ellen Thomas, 72, went into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Friday, March 10, 2017 at home.

She was born on January 1, 1945 in Glens Falls, NY.  She was the daughter of the late Milford T. Eggleston and the late Eleanor M. Seeley Eggleston.

Mary met the love of her life, Harry O. Thomas at the young age of 14, while at a Church group roller skating function.  The two were joined together as one, in the Parsonage of the late Reverend Carter on January 7th, 1961.  Mary had always wanted to be married in a Church, so they renewed their vows at the Durkeetown Baptist Church, on their 43rd Wedding Anniversary.

All Mary wanted out of life, was to be a wife and a Mother.  She adored babies and Children.  In the late 1960’s Mary’s dream of becoming a Mom seemed to be coming true, when she learned she was pregnant.  Three months later, on Christmas Eve, she suffered a devastating blow with a miscarriage.  It broke her heart, but she never gave up praying that God would allow her to have a baby of her own to love.  In 1970, she became a Mom to a baby boy, and again in 1974, to a baby girl.  God answered her prayers, and gave her two babies to love and raise.

Mary worked right along the side of Harry on their dairy farm, while raising their two children.  Mary’s hobbies were, daily walks to her “Prayer tree”, with her Grand dog, Emmy, reading her daily devotions, and her Bible, witnessing to others about the Lord, Jesus Christ, planting her beautiful flower gardens, hiking and kayaking with Harry, taking care of, and loving her Family.

Mary leaves behind her loving soul mate and husband of 56 years, Harry; Son, Bill Thomas and his wife, Tammy; Daughter, Andrea Goyette and her husband Scott; Brothers, Ricky Eggleston, and Ronald Eggleston; Sisters, Nancy Lavigne, Lisa Brown, Bobbie Jo Kelly; Grandchildren, Chrissy Quinones and her husband, Robert Jr., William and Jared Thomas; Great-Grandchildren, Maeson, age 5 and Kayden Quinones, age 3, and many other wonderful Family and Friends whom loved and cherished her.

Mary touched the lives of many people, with her selfless, loving, caring ways.  She never took credit for how gracefully she fought through her fist battle with cancer in 2001, and then again when she was diagnosed in 2013, with pancreatic cancer.  She would tell everyone, “It’s not me, it’s God.  I couldn’t do this without him.”

Harry, and the Family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to Robert S., Eric P., Jean V., and Steve at the C.R. Wood Cancer center, at Glens Falls Hospital, and the wonderful team at the Saratoga Springs Hospice Office.

A Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 18th, 2017, at the First Baptist Church, located at 1721 US 9, South Glens Falls, NY.

The Family asks, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Baptist Church of South Glens Falls, or the C.R. Wood Cancer Center, at Glens Falls Hospital.
