June Elizabeth Cowen Weidlich, age 91, silently closed the door of life and departed from us on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Wesley Healthcare Center. 

She was born on May 23, 1926 in Lebanon, NH, the daughter of the late Albert Cowen and Marion Cowen-Cacciola.

June was an animal lover, rescuing many animals, especially cats. There was a time she was known as the “cat lady”. June had a passion for cooking and baking. Cheese cake being her specialty. She worked in the restaurant and food services all her life. June also enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren. She loved her time at Wesley Nursing Home, making friends other residents, and especially her roommate of several years Dorothy and nursing staff, many of them giving her the nicknames of Junie and Juniebug.     

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryle Deschenes Stevens (Greg); son, Albert “Bud” Deschenes (Diane); a sister Barbara Cowen Muller; grandchildren, Dawn Austin, Thomas Lundquist (Amanda), Albert (Buddy) Deschenes IV (Laurie) and Amy Sapienza (Bob); 16 great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren and one on the way, and several nieces and nephews.  

She is preceded in death by her husband Philip Weidlich; two sisters, Betty Cowen Bosworth, Norma Cowen Fillipini and grandson, Joseph “Joey” Blackmen. 

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm on December 1, 2017 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY with military honors interring both Philip G. Weidlich and June E. Weidlich.

The family would like to thank the Wesley, Victoria 3rd floor nursing staff for being so kind to June. They made her feel like She and the staff were family.
