John Edward Bevis Jr.

John Edward Bevis Jr. of Saratoga Springs, New York went to meet his canine and feline companions on the Rainbow Bridge on April 29, 2017 after a yearlong battle with brain cancer. Born May 5, 1958, he was the loving son of Phoebe E. Bevis & John E. Bevis Sr. of Schaghticoke, NY.  Loving husband of Lisa Schroeder-Bevis, who he married in July 1998 and very proud father of Kyle A Bevis of Long Island, NY.  Brother of Jacklyn Bevis Bogardus of Queensbury NY,  Dianne (Hal) Wiley of Greenback , Tenn. &  Barbara (Gary) Charlebois of Schaghticoke, N Y.  His furry companion Axel, and many nieces and nephews.

John was a US Army veteran having served in Military Intelligence from Nov 1976 through Nov 1979. He was an electronic warfare cryptologic traffic analyst trained to decode encrypted messages. He served in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Ft Devens, Mass., Vint Hill Farms Station, Warrenton, Virginia, Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, TX, & Strassberg Kaserne in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany. Upon his Honorable discharge, he was a sergeant E-5. He was awarded the expert marksmanship badge and good conduct medal. John used his GI Bill to attend & graduate with an AS degree in Mathematics and Science from HVCC IN 1982 and a Bachelors degree in Chemistry from University at Albany in 1984. John worked 31 years at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in West Milton & Niskayuna.  He was an avid outdoorsman, and an Adirondack 46er.

John has "Gone Fishing" and leaves behind many beloved colleagues, friends, and family members who will miss him every day.  

Friends and family may call on Wednesday May 3, 2017, from 9:30 am to 10:30 a.m. at Compassionate Funeral Care funeral home, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Av.).

Graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. Schuylerville, NY.

The family of John invites you to join them for further fellowship and a lite lunch at the Panza’s restaurant, 510 Rte 9P, Stillwater on Saratoga Lake.
