SARATOGA SPRINGS - Joan Yolanda (Sirovica) Kindl passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at The Home of the Good Shepherd from congestive heart failure.  She was 84.

Born on October 7, 1931 in Gloversville, NY. She was the daughter of the late Paul and Josephine (Basic) Sirovica.  Joan graduated from Gloversville High School in 1950 and SUNY Cobleskill Institute of Agriculture and Home Economics in 1952.  Following her graduation, she moved to California for a short time, working as a telephone operator.  On August 28, 1954, Joan married Robert J. Kindl at St. Francis De Sales Church in Gloversville, NY.

Joan was an Air Force wife from 1957 to 1973 traveling all over the world with her family.  The family was stationed at the Saratoga Radar Station; Rome, NY; Dover, DE; Washington, DC; San Antonio, TX and overseas in Japan and Germany.  Joan particularly enjoyed living and traveling throughout Europe.  After her husband’s retirement from the Air Force, the family settled in Saratoga Springs followed by moves to Manchester, NH, Sacandaga Lake, and back to Saratoga.

An avid reader, Joan also enjoyed doing puzzles, cooking and trying out new recipes, and had a green thumb for both flower and vegetable gardening.

Joan is predeceased by her husband; her son Robert; brothers Paul, Charles, and Frank; and sisters Anna Sirovica and Irene Ermie.

She is survived by her four sons: Alan (Terri) of Saratoga Springs, Kelly of Manchester, NH, James (Patricia) of Gansevoort, NY, and Paul of Gansevoort, NY.  She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Alison Kindl Robbens and Scott Kindl (Kelley), Zachary and Kaitlyn Kindl, Meghan and Hannah Kindl, and five great-grandchildren: Antone and Ava Robbens, and Caden, Cole and Sadie Kindl.  Her sisters, Pauline Henry of Johnstown and Shirley Hill of California; and many nephews and nieces also survive her.

There will be no calling hours.  A private service for both Joan and Bob will be held at the Saratoga National Cemetery.  Charitable gifts may be made in her memory to Hospice.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Home of the Good Shepherd and Hospice for the genuine and compassionate care and respect they gave to Joan.
