James W. Ware Sr., age 79, entered into Eternal Rest on Sunday, December 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 3, 1938 in Claymont, Delaware, the son of the late Hiram Benjamin Ware and Beatrice Bartha Bennett Ware.

Jim was a graduate of Eddystone High School, Eddystone, Pennsylvania, class of 1956.  Jim worked for A&P Food Stores for 36 years, he started as a Produce Manager in Wilmington, DE and progressed through the positions of Store Manager, District Manager, Director of Operations in Altoona, PA, with his last positions being a Divisional Vice President in New England.  He then continued his career in Boulder, Colorado working for Wild Oats Natural Supermarkets.  While living in Colorado, little did he know, he would meet the love of his life, Sue Ellen, who lived in the apartment below him and married her on July 6, 1996.

Following Jim’s retirement, he continued to do what he loved and enjoyed.  He was an avid golfer, he loved doing yard work and he loved serving the Lord as an Elder and an Usher at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Saratoga Springs. He truly enjoyed spending time with family, neighbors and friends, who will miss him dearly.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Sue Ellen; sons, James Ware Jr. (Theresa), John Ware, Kevin Gallagher (Paula), Eric Heinlein; daughter, Jennifer Jones (Court); brothers, Richard Ware (June), Bob Ware (Shannon); sisters, Linda Timchak, Gerri Tress and Vel Pointer (Doyle). sixteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  

He is preceded in death by his daughter Sandra Ware; son, David Gallagher and five brothers; Arthur, Hiram, David, John and Paul; three sisters; Laura Mae Ware, June Morente, and Nancy Cohen.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 29, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 149 Lake Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 with Pastor Adam Weigand officiating.  Visitation will be held in the church Narthax from 10 am to 11 am.  

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and physicians at Saratoga Hospital, Sunyview Rehabilitation Hospital, Schuyler Ridge Rehabilitation, Kindred at Home, and Glens Falls Hospital.  A heartfelt thank you to Pastor Adam Weigand and Pastor Ethan Luhman for their compassionate love, encouragement, spiritual guidance and prayers for Jim and Sue Ellen during Jim’s illness.     

In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Jim can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 149 Lake Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
