Harry V. Bayer

March 25, 1931 ~ September 1, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Harry V. Bayer, age 86, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 25, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Joseph Bayer and Gertrude Ward Bayer.

Upon graduation from high school Harry enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country with pride from 1951 to 1955 and was active duty for the duration of the Korean War while stationed in Alaska and Maine.  Harry and Joan married in 1952.  Harry was an Aircraft Technician with Northrop Grumman and worked on the Apollo Lunar Module, while his specialty area with Grumman was the F-14. Harry and Joan moved with their children from West Babylon, New York to Lake George, New York to become owner/operators of a motel and cottage business.  Harry loved the Lake George and Adirondack region with great passion.  Harry and Joan retired to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for many years before returning to the Glens Falls, New York area to be closer to family.  Harry was a member of the Blue Angels Society of Scotia Glenville, The Eighth Air Force Society, and a member of the Elks Club.  Harry had many hobbies including photography, intricate model airplanes, but his favorite hobby was just being with his only Grandchild, Brian Patrick Jojo.  Harry and Brian had a bond like no other.

He is survived by his children Gail E. Bayer, Brian M. Bayer, Michael J. Bayer, Carolyn B. Jojo and her husband Stanley A. Jojo, Jr., his beloved Grandson Brian P. Jojo, sister in law Doris Nastro and her husband Frank Nastro, and sister in law Maureen McMahon.  Harry had many nieces and nephews who adored him, as Dave said, “He was one of the good guys”.  Perfect.  Harry also had many friends at Wilton Commons Senior housing, a very special group of great people.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan McMahon Bayer; brothers, Joseph, Raymond and Francis Bayer; and sister, Regina Prendergast.
