Eugene G. Darling, age 76, passed away on at home on Thursday, May 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on February 15, 1940 in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Bruce Darling and Mary Boyer.

Eugene was a Supervisor of the Long Lake Highway department for many years.  He was a loving, kind and caring person always willing to help others. In his retirement, he was able to enjoy all the things he loved including sailing, hunting, fishing, and exploring the outdoors, but he especially cherished and loved spending time with his family.  Eugene also enjoyed being the Long Lake Judge, and he truly enjoyed being a part of the EMT and Fire Department of Raquette Lake.   Eugene was a proud veteran of the United States Army and loved serving his country.

Eugene is survived by his loving wife Carol Cleaveland who had a fun-filled life together, sons; Eugene Darling, John Darling, daughter; Joanna Darling, sister; Wilma June Darling, grandchildren; Stephanie Northrop (Chris), Amber Wamback (Craig), Melanie Pierson, Lucas Darling, Abigail Darling, four great-grandchildren, niece; Jean Marie Darling and nephew; Bruce Darling.    

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother George Darling.

At the family’s request there will be a celebration of life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donation in memory of Eugene can be made to the Raquette Lake Fire Department.
